VPN Setup for Mac OS X

Tunnelblick is a free open source graphic user interface for OpenVPN on Mac OS X. It provides easy control of OpenVPN client and/or server connections.

Please follow these steps to establish VPN connection to the apsdemo.org network.

  1. Download the Tunnelblick client.

  2. Install Tunnelblick.

  3. Get VPN configuration. A zip file with OpenVPN configuration, you have downloaded, contains all necessary parameters to access the apsdemo.org VPN.

  4. Extract the configuration file.

  5. Add the VPN configuration to Tunnelblick:

    • Rename the folder to have the .tblk extension.

    • Double click on the .tblk bundle.

    The configuration should now be registered in the Tunnelblick client.

  6. Make sure DNS is enabled.

  7. Test your connection.

    If connection is successful, you should be able to ping dns.apsdemo.org by its domain name:

    $ ping dns.apsdemo.org
    PING dns.apsdemo.org (10.112.0.11): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from 10.112.0.11: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=49.746 ms
    64 bytes from 10.112.0.11: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=48.582 ms
    64 bytes from 10.112.0.11: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=87.441 ms

  8. Test connection to the Operations Automation. Once you have a connection to the apsdemo.org network, you should be able to connect to the Service Automation control panel:
